Embrace I is an exploration of organic asymmetry, mass, and tension. Handcrafted entirely from rare, prized Amboyna Burl, the piece celebrates the intense, swirling grain and natural “eyes” unique to wild forest burls. The dramatic left-hand expansion creates a heavy, grounding visual gravity, juxtaposed by a sharp, sweeping right-hand contour. Mounted with an intentional 15-degree lean over a pristine, hand-beveled white quartz base, the sculpture achieves a levitating shadow-gap profile. Embrace I is designed as a direct physical and visual counterweight to its sister piece, Embrace II, forming a deep, interlocking dialog of natural form, shadow, and negative space.
