Remembrance is a towering, elegant monument to memory, designed to draw the eye upward along a path of quiet contemplation. Standing twenty-eight inches tall, the sculpture is shaped from a single, tapering column of highly figured Curly Maple. The wood features a brilliant, shifting chatoyancy—an optical quality that makes the grain appear to ripple and change under different lighting conditions, mirroring the fluid, elusive nature of human memory itself.

Near the base, the wood transitions into a localized patch of rich, complex burl figure, grounding the airy ripples above with a dense, rooted history. The soaring spired form is anchored by a dark, precisely beveled American Walnut base. By pairing the ethereal, light-catching qualities of the maple with a solid, geometric foundation, Remembrance captures the balance between the fleeting moments we look back on and the enduring structures we build to honor them.
